Benjamin Quaye Memorial Endowment for Social Justice

memorial event

Your gift provides permanent funding for an annual undergraduate scholarship awarded to students with significant financial need who are pursuing educational and career goals in social justice.

This fund enables students to create social change by providing direct financial support, with preference given to those who may be the first in their family to attend college and volunteer to help underserved populations, such as foster youth, people with disabilities, and homeless people. Donations help close equity gaps for undergraduates by defraying the cost of obtaining their bachelor’s, allowing them to continue serving their communities.

This fund and scholarship honors the memory of Benjamin Quaye, a UC Santa Cruz student who died at age 21 in 2010. Benjamin was strongly committed to spreading tolerance and social justice. His family, friends, and loved ones established this endowment in his loving memory to support students at UCSC who share his ideals.
