Your gift helps the Center for Critical Urban and Environmental Studies support and promote critical, public-facing urban-environmental research and action through research projects and a graduate student working group.
We are the first center at UC Santa Cruz to integrate multiple disciplines and perspectives to solve issues of increasing inequality and climate change. Through our vast network of faculty and graduate students, our work advances urban and environmental studies research that takes a critical approach to understanding the political, cultural, and spatial impacts of urbanization.
Donations to our center’s unrestricted funds help us provide research funding and professional development to faculty and students and communicate the results of our research through public events and outreach. It also allows us to continue cultivating strong partnerships with other units on campus, including the Sociology Department, Community Studies Program, Center for Political Ecology, and Black Geographies Lab.
