Eileen Brooks Memorial Award Fund

Support students pursuing a Ph.D. in economics who are in their third year of studies, with preference given to individuals whose studies focus on international trade.

The award provides additional financial support to students who have demonstrated the highest levels of academic merit through coursework in international trade and their performance on the international trade field exam. This funding enables students to focus on their last year of coursework without financial barriers before embarking on writing their dissertation.

This award is named in honor of Assistant Professor of Economics Eileen L. Brooks, assistant professor of economics, who joined the UCSC faculty in 2001 and taught courses in international trade, international economics, and advanced quantitative methods. Brooks passed away after a lengthy illness on February 1, 2006, at the age of 33.
