Support graduate students who carry forward the legacy of Lionel Cantú and further their research about immigration studies, transnational/cross-border studies, Latino/Latina sociology, gender, sexuality, gay men, and masculinity.
This fund provides awards based on academic merit, with winners selected by and in connection with the Dolores Huerta Research Center of the Americas, the Sociology Department, and the Latin American and Latino Studies Department.
The award was created by friends, colleagues, students, and family to celebrate the life of assistant professor of sociology Lionel Cantú after his sudden, unexpected passing. Cantú has made lasting contributions both to sexuality studies and immigration studies.
