Sociology of Race, Class, and Gender Endowment

Your gift supports two annual awards, one to an undergraduate who writes an exemplary senior thesis and one to a graduate student researching women of color or class issues.

Awards are based on academic merit and reward students for advancing knowledge on critical issues of health, education, language, environment, work, culture, the economy within the United States. Donations help bolster undergraduate and graduate students who are dedicated to making race, class, and gender their simultaneous and central foci in their work.

This endowment was created in honor of UCSC Professor Emerita of Sociology Pamela Ann Roby, who has published extensive research on infant and early childhood development policies, social and economic inequalities, higher education, trade union leadership, and women and work.
